India celebrates its 78th Army Day today with unmatched fervor and pride. Breaking away from the decades-old tradition of holding the main parade in Delhi, this year’s grand event took place in the Pink City, Jaipur, continuing the government’s initiative to take major national events to different parts of the country.
From the display of indigenous weapon systems to the daredevil motorcycle stunts, the 2026 Army Day parade was a spectacle of discipline and power.
Grandeur in the Pink City
The parade ground in Jaipur witnessed a magnificent display of India’s military might. The event began with the laying of wreaths to honor the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. The shift of venue to Jaipur has brought a fresh energy to the celebrations, with thousands of locals gathering to witness their heroes in action.
This year, the spotlight was on ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India). The parade featured the latest induction of indigenous drones, the advanced version of the Arjun Main Battle Tank, and the new swarm drone systems that have recently been deployed along the borders.

PM Modi’s Message to the Troops
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his warm wishes to the Indian Army personnel and their families. In a video message shared early this morning, the Prime Minister hailed the Army as the “pillar of India’s strength and security.”

Our soldiers stand as a symbol of selfless service, safeguarding the nation with steadfast resolve, at times under the most challenging conditions. Their sense of duty inspires confidence and gratitude across the country.
We remember with deep respect those who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Focus on Modernization
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), addressing the troops, emphasized that 2026 is a pivotal year for technological absorption. The Indian Army is rapidly integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cyber-warfare capabilities into its standard operating procedures. The General stated, “Future wars will be contactless and high-tech, and the Indian Army is fully prepared for this transformation.”

Daredevils Steal the Show
As always, the ‘Daredevils’ motorcycle display team was the crowd favorite. Performing gravity-defying stunts, including the famous ‘Human Pyramid’ on moving bikes, they left the audience in Jaipur spellbound.
The event concluded with a flypast by the Army Aviation Corps, featuring the fierce Apache attack helicopters and the indigenous Prachand Light Combat Helicopters (LCH), symbolizing the sky-high morale of our forces.
Why We Celebrate Army Day
Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every year to mark the day Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa took over as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Butcher in 1949. It is a day to honor the soldiers who serve on the icy heights of Siachen, the scorching deserts of Rajasthan, and the dense jungles of the Northeast to keep us safe.
Jai Hind!
