10 Army Personnel Killed, 11 Injured in Tragic Road Accident in J&K’s Doda District
A devastating road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district has claimed the lives of 10 Indian Army personnel, with 11 others injured. The incident occurred on January 22, 2026, when a bullet-proof Casspir vehicle skidded off the Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road at Khanni Top (around 9,000 feet elevation) and plunged into a nearly 200-foot-deep gorge.
The vehicle was carrying 17-21 soldiers (reports vary slightly) en route from a Bhaderwah camp to a high-altitude forward post during routine movement/operational duties. The driver reportedly lost control on a sharp bend, possibly due to slippery conditions from snow/ice or road hazards in the treacherous hilly terrain. Initial rescue efforts by Army and police teams recovered four bodies on the spot, with six more succumbing to injuries later, bringing the toll to 10. The injured (some critically) were airlifted to Udhampur Command Hospital for specialized treatment, with one under observation in Bhaderwah sub-district hospital.
